A year ago I decided to take the plunge and turn my private passion into a business of its own. Facing a mountain of fear, and with the help of my wonderful coach, Lou Redmond, and teaching 'sister', Michelle Albert, I embarked on one of the most terrifying but rewarding years of my life to move away from marketing, and build a brand new mindfulness programme for my company, Kaplan. I hit so many challenges along the way and buckets of imposter syndrome, and nearly gave up so many times, but a deep belief that this work is so needed in the world helped me to keep going during the toughest of times.
In November 2024 the programme that I started as a 'crazy' dream was chosen as a winner for the Independent Higher Education Staff Wellbeing awards! https://ihe.ac.uk/latest/news/ihe-awards-2024-winners The judges strongly acknowledged the impact of the mindfulness-based resilience programme that I designed for staff and students throughout Kaplan, and the work of Dr Victoria Wilson-Crane, an inspirational colleague of mine, who has developed Kaplan's Kindness Curriculum. The Kindness Curriculum was inspired by the wonderful Kath Koschel, Founder of the Kindness Factory, whose life's mission is to make the world a kinder place. 🫶 For me this award isn't about recognition, but is instead a reminder to always trust your instincts, and to believe in your little seed of an idea, however small and crazy it may seem, and in spite of all the imposter syndrome, judgement and resistance you might meet along the way.
